BEIJING, June 26 (TiPost) – The market size of rotary floor scrubbers from 2019 to 2022 expanded about 150 times from 70 million yuan to an impressive 10.5 billion .

According to statistics, China’s market size of rotary floor scrubbers in 2019 was only 70 million yuan. In 2020, the market size rapidly increased to 1.29 billion yuan, representing an extraordinary growth rate of 1,742.86%. In 2021, the market size further expanded to 5.8 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 349.61%. In 2022, the market surpassed 10 billion yuan mark to an impressive 10.5 billion yuan.

During the period from 2019 to 2022, the overall market size of electric cleaning appliances in China increased from 20 billion yuan to 32.2 billion yuan. The proportion of the rotary floor scrubber market size within the cleaning appliances market also experienced substantial growth, rising from 0.35% to 32.61%.

In the first quarter of 2023, the sales of electric cleaning appliances in China amounted to 5.96 billion yuan, a 1.8% year-on-year decrease. The sales volume stood at 4.82 million units, reflecting a 14.7% year-on-year decline. Despite the sector-wide sales slowdown, the rotary floor scrubber segment continued to grow. It achieved total sales of 2.26 billion yuan, marking a significant 43.4% year-on-year increase, while the sales volume amounted to 829,000 units, demonstrating an impressive 62.3% year-on-year increase.

During the recent 618 shopping festival, which is the second largest and most important online shopping event in China, the growth of the rotary floor scrubber continued to be significant. Its sales witnessed a 19.6% year-on-year increase, while the sales volume grew by an impressive 46.1%.

Data from Suning.com, one of the largest non-government retailers in China, indicates that during the recent 618 shopping festival, the sales of rotary floor scrubbers recorded a remarkable 72% year-on-year growth rate, surpassing the sales of sweeping robots. At this year’s Appliance & Electronics World Expo (AWE), the rotary floor machine has also become the choice of most households when it comes to cleaning appliances .

According to a GfK analyst, the rotary floor scrubber has emerged at an opportune time in the market. It is projected that in 2023, the overall market size of cleaning appliances may exceed 38 billion yuan, representing a growth rate of around 10%. Sales volume is anticipated to surpass 30 million units, reflecting a year-on-year increase of about 12%. Rotary floor scrubbers are expected to become the leading category within the cleaning appliances segment, accounting for more than 40% of the sales volume, with a market size of 16 billion yuan and a substantial year-on-year growth rate of 26%.

The growth of rotary floor scrubbers can be attributed to their ability to cater to the diverse needs of consumers in the cleaning appliances market. “The initial high-speed growth of rotary floor scrubbers is inevitable due to their relatively short market development time,” said an analyst at Beijing All View Cloud.

The thriving market has attracted significant interest, leading to a surge in the number of rotary floor scrubber brands. In 2022, the number of brands reached 186, and from the period between 2019 and Q1 2023, over 200 brands emerged in the market. Even now, new brands continue to enter the market on a monthly basis. It is projected that by the end of this year, the rotary floor scrubber market will have more than 250 brands.
